The Derivatives Middle Office is responsible for the comprehensive daily monitoring of market activities, focusing on three key themes:
The Middle Office analyzes all transactions processed from the previous trading day, which includes both over-the-counter transactions and those concluded on organized markets. It monitors daily variations in the books and measures the impact on various risk factors. By conducting VAR and STRESS TEST analyses, it evaluates the overall exposure of profit centers and their sensitivity to market fluctuations. This team ensures compliance with the limits delegated to Trading while providing management with crucial indicators.
Within the Middle Office, daily unit performance is measured, and consistency of available information—such as the characteristics of individual operations and valuation parameters—is rigorously maintained. The team validates the valuation curves, or "MTM," utilized by traders, performing consistency checks on price structures and comparing them with external sources for the most liquid indices. Each day, they compile the overall outcomes for each profit center and report findings to management.
The Middle Office financial analyst actively participates in the development and validation of information systems, collaborating with IT teams and financial engineering. This includes testing and validating transaction pricing models and exposure tracking tools. The role also provides support to traders through statistical analysis and quantitative assessments of various trading strategies, alongside the development of management support tools. The chosen candidate will engage in the daily tasks outlined above and assess and implement new risk tools for management and traders.
