What You Will Do

The Derivatives Middle Office provides daily comprehensive monitoring of market activities revolving around three key themes:

  • Monitoring exposure and market risks incurred by trading portfolios
  • Calculation and publication of daily results
  • Support and assistance for derivatives traders

Monitoring Exposure and Market Risks

The Middle Office analyzes all transactions processed on the previous trading day, including over-the-counter and organized market transactions. It monitors daily variations in the books and measures the impact on various risk factors. The team studies the overall exposure of profit centers and their sensitivity to market fluctuations, particularly through VAR and stress test analyses. Compliance with limits set for trading is ensured, and management is provided with relevant indicators.

Calculation and Publication of Daily Results

The Middle Office measures daily unit performance and exercises control over the consistency of available information, including characteristics of individual operations and valuation parameters. It is responsible for validating the valuation curves, or "mark-to-market" (MTM), retained by traders, ensuring consistency checks on price structures and comparisons with external sources for the most liquid indices. The team determines the overall outcome of each profit center daily and reports this to management.

Support and Trading Assistance

The Middle Office financial analyst participates in the development and validation of information systems in collaboration with IT teams and financial engineering. This includes testing and validating transaction pricing models and exposure tracking tools. Additionally, the analyst supports traders through statistical analyses and evaluates the quantitative performance of various trading strategies, as well as developing management support tools.

The candidate will engage in the daily tasks described above and will analyze and implement new risk tools for both management and traders.
