What You Will Do
The Derivatives Middle Office plays a vital role in monitoring daily market activities through three primary themes:
- Monitoring Exposure and Market Risks: The Middle Office analyzes all transactions from the previous trading day, whether conducted over-the-counter or on organized markets. It monitors daily variations in the portfolios and assesses the impact on various risk factors. By studying the overall exposure of profit centers and their sensitivity to market fluctuations, the team employs VAR/Stress Test analysis to ensure compliance with trading limits while providing management with key performance indicators.
- Calculation and Publication of Daily Results: The Middle Office is responsible for measuring daily unit performance and maintaining the integrity of information available, including characteristics of individual operations and valuation parameters. The office validates valuation curves or 'MTM' figures retained by traders, conducting consistency checks on price structures and comparing them with external sources for the most liquid indices. It summarizes the overall outcomes for each profit center and reports to management.
- Support and Assistance for Derivatives Traders: The Middle Office financial analyst collaborates with IT teams and financial engineering to develop and validate information systems, ensuring the accuracy of transaction pricing models and exposure tracking tools. The analyst also supports traders through statistical analysis of various trading strategies, while developing management support tools.
The selected candidate will engage in the daily tasks described above as well as analyze and implement new risk tools for management and traders.
