Position: Metallic Test & Surface Treatment Engineer

Key Responsibilities
- Analyze metallic materials, particularly steel, aluminum, and titanium.
- Study the fatigue behavior of metallic materials, including related theories, influencing factors, testing methods, and crack types.
- Conduct testing campaigns on metallic samples.
- Prepare technical documentation, test procedures, and test reports.
- Adhere to aeronautical standards and oversee processes and materials qualification.
- Understand manufacturing processes such as forming, machining, and milling.
- Implement assembly practices using screws, rivets, bolts, joints, and lubricants.
- Oversee surface treatments, including anodizing, galvanizing, chemical conversion, corrosion protection, and electrochemical treatments.
- Examine heat treatments and their effects on microstructure.
- Coordinate material investigations, including failure cases related to materials and processes.
- Establish allowables for raw materials and treatments.
Our Ideal Candidate Should Have
- A Degree in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in materials engineering, preferably within aerospace or other regulated industries.
- Strong knowledge of metallic materials and their mechanical behavior, particularly regarding fatigue and fracture.
- Experience with material testing, data analysis, and result interpretation.
- Familiarity with aeronautical standards and material qualification processes.
- Understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes for metallic structures.
- Knowledge of surface and heat treatments and their industrial applications.
- Ability to manage multiple activities, work independently, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Fluency in English; proficiency in German is a plus.
