Memory Systems Engineer Position
We are currently seeking a Memory Systems Engineer to join our office in Lausanne, Switzerland. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys tackling complex challenges.
Responsibilities and Authority
- Conduct architectural performance simulations using application traces or synthetic workloads to quantify the effects of various memory subsystems.
- Prototype memory subsystems using FPGA technology for functional and performance validation, with the option to utilize off-the-shelf FPGA boards.
- Analyze configurations of memory controllers and their impact on overall computer system performance.
- Participate in SoC architecture design and analysis, specifically focusing on memory controllers.
- Assist the engineering team in creating and executing design verification and validation plans for DRAM controllers and memory systems.
Required Competencies – Experience
- Experience in designing a DRAM controller and testing it using either FPGAs or ASICs.
- Knowledge of DRAM performance modeling and characterization in industrial or academic contexts.
- Ability to correlate key application performance with DRAM subsystem capabilities through gathering traces or directed testing techniques in the lab, particularly for databases, machine learning, or search applications.
- Familiarity with the Linux kernel, preferably with some development or testing experience.
- Experience in architectural simulations of computer systems with a focus on DRAM subsystems.
Required Competencies – Skills
- Master's Degree in Electronics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Proficiency in FPGA design and implementation of complex systems, including memory controllers.
- Strong C/C++ coding skills, particularly for Linux systems and architecture simulations.
- Experience in benchmarking high-performance applications, such as databases, machine learning/AI, search indexes, or streaming analytics.
- Familiarity with DRAM internal device architecture and its influence on computer performance.
- Understanding of computer systems architecture, including protocols like CXL, PCIe, and AXI.
- Proficiency in Verilog/VHDL for RTL design and/or verification.
