Job Title: Medical Lead EMEA & LatAm (m/f/d)
The Medical Lead EMEA & LatAm will play a pivotal role in driving strategic planning for the regions, engaging with healthcare professionals (HCPs), and leading medical education initiatives. This position involves cross-functional collaboration to provide scientific and medical support, establishing a strong partnership with both internal and external stakeholders. In addition, the Medical Lead will monitor and analyze scientific literature, support regulatory document reviews and submissions, and represent the company at scientific conferences.
Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Develop and execute the regional medical strategy in alignment with global objectives.
- Serve as a strategic partner to internal stakeholders, including regional VPs and leaders in Commercial, Regulatory, and Market Access, as well as clinical teams, ensuring medical insights drive business decisions.
- Formulate key scientific messages and medical communication strategies that align with the global strategy.
- Collaborate with regulatory affairs teams to facilitate the medical review of promotional and non-promotional materials, ensuring compliance with local and international regulations.
HCP Engagement & Medical Education
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and healthcare leaders across EMEA and LatAm, along with regional regulatory bodies.
- Plan and execute medical education programs, advisory boards, and scientific exchange meetings in key markets.
- Provide scientific training and guidance to HCPs and internal teams on relevant disease areas and product-related topics, both virtually and in person.
Medical & Scientific Support
- Act as the primary medical and scientific resource for internal teams, ensuring access to accurate and current medical knowledge.
- Contribute to the development of scientific materials, such as slide decks, FAQs, and training content.
- Continuously review and analyze scientific literature and emerging data to identify trends and opportunities.
- Communicate key scientific insights to internal teams and stakeholders.
- Attend international and regional scientific congresses, conferences, and symposia to represent the company and engage with experts.
Experience & Education
- Advanced degree in Life Sciences or Healthcare (MD, PharmD, PhD in Biomedical Sciences, Pharmacology, Nursing, or related fields); a Master’s in Public Health (MPH) or Business (MBA) is advantageous.
- Over 7 years of experience in a medical affairs or related role within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
- Extensive knowledge and experience driving medical affairs across EMEA and LatAm.
- Strong understanding of clinical research, pharmacology, and diabetes care.
- Experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or medical device sectors.
- Proven track record of creating and executing a regional medical affairs strategy.
- Experience in HCP engagement, medical education, and scientific exchange.
- Familiarity with regional regulations (e.g., EMA in Europe, ANVISA in Brazil, COFEPRIS in Mexico, etc.).
- Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Good Pharmacovigilance Practices (GVP), and local compliance laws.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong scientific expertise in diabetes or medical devices.
- Deep understanding of therapeutic areas, clinical data interpretation, and medical guidelines.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills across all hierarchical levels, both internally and externally.
- Proficient scientific writing skills for publications, medical information documents, and reports.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional, multicultural environment within a matrix organization.
- Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Italian, Spanish, or Portuguese is highly desirable.
- Awareness of cultural and healthcare system differences in the EMEA and LATAM regions.
- Experience with Real-World Evidence (RWE) and Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) is a plus.
- Able to thrive in a matrix organization and manage multiple stakeholders effectively.
