Translational Medicine Discovery & Profiling (TMDP) brings together a team of dedicated physicians and clinical researchers committed to transforming innovative science into real-world solutions for patients. Our Medical Directors play a pivotal role in overseeing Phase 1 first-in-human (FiH) and Phase 2 proof-of-concept (PoC) studies, setting the stage for subsequent Phase 3 development. As integral members of global, cross-functional project teams, Medical Directors in Translational Medicine collaborate closely with experts in biology and chemistry to identify targets in diseases with significant unmet medical needs. They contribute valuable insights into clinical development pathways, design clinical development plans, and serve as medical leads for key trials. In the role of Medical Director for Translational Medicine Gastroenterology, you will report to the TM Head.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead global clinical trial teams through Phase 1 and 2 development
  • Draft early clinical development plans
  • Act as medical lead for early clinical studies
  • Represent the team in relevant decision boards
  • Serve as the primary contact for internal and external key opinion leaders
  • Oversee publication and presentation of clinical study results
  • Collaborate closely with biomarker experts for implementation
  • Work with research scientists to develop and implement preclinical strategies
  • Actively engage in interactions with health authorities

Essential Requirements:

  • Medical doctor with board certification in gastroenterology
  • Several years of clinical experience treating IBD (UC and CD) patients
  • Ability to learn quickly and work independently
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in a matrix organization
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

Desirable Requirements:

  • Research experience (e.g., Ph.D.) is beneficial but not a strict requirement
  • Experience in drug development as a trial investigator or within the pharmaceutical sector is advantageous but not necessary
  • Publications in the field of IBD are a plus but not a strict requirement
