About the Role

The Medical Communications Manager serves as Takeda’s external-facing scientific communications lead for GI2 (Gastroenterology and Inflammation). This role is responsible for planning and executing medical education and omni-channel scientific communications, encompassing traditional, innovative, and digital formats. Collaborating closely with Digital, Data & Technology (DD&T), Field Medical, and Medical Advisors, you will translate evidence into clear, compliant, and impactful narratives, orchestrate customer journeys, and utilize AI-driven analytics and advanced CRM systems to continuously improve reach, engagement, and educational outcomes.

Your Contributions

  • Scientific Communications Strategy: Own the GI2 medical communications plan aligned with the medical plan; define audiences, messages, channels, and success metrics while ensuring scientific accuracy across all assets.
  • Medical Education: Design and deliver accredited and non-accredited medical education initiatives (e.g., symposia, webinars, masterclasses, microlearning) by partnering with external experts and internal stakeholders; evaluating learning outcomes to address educational gaps in the GI2 therapeutic area.
  • Omni-Channel Orchestration: Design scientific customer journeys and execute omni-channel campaigns (email, web, social, virtual events) in OCE automation, personalizing content based on insights and KOL profiling.
  • Content Operations & Review: Adapt and create scientific content (slides, leave-behinds, infographics, videos, FAQs); manage references, scientific narratives, and MLR review using Veeva Vault or equivalent.
  • Insights & Analytics: Leverage data analytics and dashboards to measure reach and engagement while applying A/B testing for continuous optimization.
  • Publications Support: Coordinate with Medical Advisors and Global Publications regarding local publication needs (abstracts, posters, congress booths) to align with global/local publication policies.
  • Collaboration & Governance: Work cross-functionally with various departments to ensure aligned, timely, and compliant execution.
  • Vendor & Budget Management: Select and manage agencies/vendors; track budgets, timelines, and quality to ensure performance aligns with the Scope of Work (SoW).
  • Compliance & Ethics: Ensure all activities comply with Takeda-ism, SOPs, local codes, and regulatory standards while maintaining fair and balanced scientific communication.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Life Sciences (PharmD/PhD/MD or MSc with equivalent experience).
  • Native-level proficiency in German or French; excellent English; strong ability to write and review scientific content rigorously.
  • 2–4 years of experience in Medical Affairs/Medical Communications; experience in Immunology (Psoriasis, Psoriatic Arthritis, or Inflammatory bowel disease) is advantageous.
  • Strong scientific writing, storytelling, and health literacy skills.
  • High-level agility and teamwork skills with a passion for interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Proficiency in digital tools, including OCE/campaign automation, Veeva Vault (PromoMats/MedComms), and Microsoft 365.
  • Data literacy and proficiency with AI-driven analytics (dashboards, experimentation, KPI tracking).
  • Project and vendor management capabilities, with a track record of delivering multiple initiatives concurrently at high quality.
  • Solid understanding of compliance frameworks and local industry codes for scientific and medical education activities.
