Job Summary

The Mechanics & Utilities Professional for the afternoon and evening shift is responsible for maintaining and repairing utility and process systems at the Lengnau facility. This role is crucial for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of these systems, thereby supporting manufacturing operations while adhering to GMP standards. Please note, this role specifically requires availability for afternoon and evening activities between 13:00 – 22:00, Monday to Friday.

Technical Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on utility systems and process equipment, including HVAC, boilers, water systems, bioreactors, vessels, and purification equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues that arise during afternoon and evening activities to minimize downtime.
  • Document all maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and corrective and preventive actions, in accordance with GMP standards.
  • Assist in maintaining systems critical to manufacturing operations, ensuring minimal disruption to production.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with GMP standards and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with maintenance team leads and other team members to coordinate maintenance activities and priorities.

Quality Compliance

  • Adhere to general cGMP rules, Quality policies, procedures, and instructions as mandated by the Quality function and endorsed by site management.
  • Contribute actively to continuous quality improvement initiatives, deviation reporting, and follow-ups.

Health, Environment, Safety, and Security (EHSS)

  • Comply with safety rules, policies, procedures, and instructions as established by the EHSS functions and site management.
  • Actively participate in safety initiatives, reporting issues, and near misses, and follow-up actions.

Position Qualifications

Education

  • Technical diploma or equivalent experience in mechanical engineering or a related field.

Experience & Competencies

  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in maintenance, preferably in a GMP manufacturing facility.
  • Demonstrated experience in maintaining and repairing process equipment.
  • Strong understanding of GMP standards and maintenance practices.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate job ownership.
  • Analytical and concept-based thinking ability.
  • Strong attention to detail in documenting activities in compliance with GMP standards.
  • Physical capability to perform tasks requiring prolonged standing, walking, and lifting of materials and equipment.
  • Ability to work in cleanroom environments and adhere to all GMP and safety regulations.
  • Willingness to provide on-call support for 24/7 operations.
  • Availability for afternoon and evening shifts (Mon-Fri, 13:00-22:00).
