About the FGCZ Proteomics Unit

The FGCZ Proteomics Unit extends its support to both internal and external research groups by delivering an array of services, training opportunities, and access to advanced instruments. Our comprehensive analytical portfolio includes:

  • Identifying, characterizing, and quantifying proteins in cells, tissues, and body fluids.
  • Collaborating with the Bioinformatics team to manage all phases from initial consultation to data analysis.
  • Leveraging the expertise of IT, bioinformatics, metabolomics, and genomics teams to facilitate multi-omics approaches.

Position Overview

We are seeking a new team member to join us immediately or upon mutual agreement. This position is offered as a fixed-term contract.

The successful candidate will become a vital part of our international team of technical specialists within the FGCZ proteomics core facility. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Operating various LC-MS systems while supporting and advising researchers on experimental design, data acquisition, and data analysis.
  • Maintaining instruments and developing new analytical techniques and data analysis strategies.
  • Participating in the training and teaching of graduate students.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • PhD in biochemistry, analytical chemistry, or a related field, with a minimum of 3 years of practical experience in proteomics sample preparation, LC-MS/MS, data analysis, and data processing.
  • Familiarity with proteomics software tools such as DIA-NN, Spectronaut, and FragPipe.
  • Strong communication skills across disciplines, comfortable engaging with students and collaborators.
  • Experience with proteomics approaches for analyzing post-translational modifications (e.g., phosphorylation, ubiquitination) or MS-based spatial proteomics; basic programming skills and glycoproteomics experience will be an advantage.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to adapt to a dynamic and diverse analytical environment.
  • Fluent in English; knowledge of German is a plus.
  • A team player who is ambitious and motivated to innovate in the fields of proteomics and protein analysis.
