Marketing Director
BFL's founding team invented Latent Diffusion and built FLUX into models with over 400 million downloads, securing enterprise partnerships with Meta and reaching significant ARR faster than almost any company in history. We are at a pivotal moment where frontier AI research intersects with massive market opportunity—and we aim to lead that narrative.
With world-class frontier models and robust enterprise traction, we are seeking a marketing leader who can develop the content engine, community presence, and brand experiences that establish BFL as the definitive leader in visual AI.
Why This Role Matters
BFL competes with industry giants like Google and OpenAI, yet many remain unaware of our capabilities. We currently rely on partner channels for reach while our own X, YouTube, and blog underperform. Although we have an incredible origin story, we lack the systematic content, community engagement, and cohesive brand presence to share it effectively at scale.
In this role, you will own the entire marketing narrative—from thought leadership content that positions our founders as pioneers, to social strategies that build an engaged audience, to events and experiences that create community momentum.
This Role Exists To:
- Solidify BFL as the clear leader in visual AI through a coherent and consistent narrative.
- Create a sustainable content and community engine that drives developer adoption and enterprise demand.
- Grow our owned audience to reduce reliance on partner channels for outreach.
What You'll Do
- Lead brand, content, social, events, and communications to establish BFL as the definitive authority in visual AI.
Content & Thought Leadership
- Build a systematic content engine: educational guides, use case libraries, and collaborate on technical blog posts and customer case studies.
- Position the founding team as visual AI pioneers through bylines, podcasts, conference talks, and media features.
- Create a "Visual AI use case library" that demonstrates practical applications of FLUX.
- Establish the BFL blog as a must-read destination for visual AI developers and enterprises.
Social & Owned Channels
- Scale BFL's X, YouTube, and LinkedIn to reach competitive levels.
- Develop a content calendar featuring bi-weekly educational series and monthly spotlights for continuous audience engagement.
- Build an engaged developer community through systematic social presence.
- Launch a "Built with FLUX" showcase program with social amplification.
Events & Community Experiences
- Create memorable brand activations at conferences and industry events.
- Design and execute community events (both online and offline) that encourage API adoption and FLUX usage.
- Develop a presence in the US and EU through meetups, demos, and creator showcases.
Communications & PR
- Collaborate on messaging for product launches, funding announcements, and major milestones.
- Prepare media materials with compelling content and storytelling.
- Create talking points and narrative frameworks to translate technical breakthroughs into marketable stories.
Brand Strategy & Narrative
- Lead BFL's market positioning strategy to determine category dominance and differentiation from competitors.
- Develop brand guidelines, voice principles, and messaging frameworks in collaboration with leadership.
- Define and monitor brand health metrics, such as awareness, consideration, and preference.
You Might Be a Fit If You Bring:
- 5+ years of marketing leadership experience in high-growth tech companies, preferably in developer tools, infrastructure, or AI/ML.
- A track record of building marketing functions from the ground up.
- Well-rounded experience across content, social, events, and communications—you're a generalist capable of developing the full marketing stack.
- Strong storytelling ability, adept at making complex technology compelling.
- Proven success in building engaged communities.
Content, Creative & Community Fluency
- Strong creative direction and visual sensibility, enabling you to guide compelling content creation and collaborate effectively with designers and video producers.
- Experience developing systematic content engines, rather than one-off campaigns.
- Deep understanding of developer communities and authentic engagement with technical audiences.
- Experience in event production, including hackathons, conferences, community meetups, and brand activations.
- A history of positioning technical founders as thought leaders.
Execution & Leadership
- Comfortable building a marketing function from scratch, initially working hands-on and scaling over time.
- A data-driven approach to measuring content performance, social reach, and brand impact.
- Strong project management skills, able to coordinate complex launches across multiple stakeholders.
- Experience collaborating with technical teams to translate research breakthroughs into market opportunities.
- A low-ego, high-ownership mentality—focused on building something extraordinary rather than on titles or hierarchy.
What Success Looks Like After 6 Months
- BFL presents a more prominent market presence, closing the perception gap and appearing as a leader in visual AI, recognized beyond niche technical circles.
- Experiences created under BFL's branding—events, campaigns, and content—feel distinctively unique and have gained customer recognition.
- The content engine is actively publishing on the BFL blog with regular frequency, featuring educational content, case studies, and technical insights.
- Measurable growth in the owned audience, reflected in increases in followers, engagement, and community participation with the "Built with FLUX" program.
- A strong schedule of impactful brand experiences and community events has been executed, with a visible increase in API conversions.
- The market has a clear understanding of BFL's brand positioning and messaging frameworks are established for all communications.
- Leadership visibility has increased through secured media placements, speaking engagements, and thought leadership pieces in targeted outlets.

- A collaborative rhythm established with the communications/PR team to support narrative development for launches and announcements.
- A clear roadmap for scaling the marketing function is in place, outlining in-house building versus agency support and future hiring needs.
