Your Role

This role serves as a global financial crime legal expert, encompassing Swiss, EU, UK, UN, US, and other relevant financial crime legal regimes. You will play a vital part in supporting the Bank’s strategic direction concerning financial crime laws, policies, and compliance while adhering to legal and regulatory requirements worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as counsel and a subject matter expert on complex financial crime legal issues, considering their potential legal, financial, and reputational consequences for HSBC.
  • Provide comprehensive legal advice on compliance with Swiss, EU, UK, UN, US, and other relevant financial crime laws.
  • Support the proactive management of the Bank’s financial crime and reputational risks in a commercially sensitive manner.
  • Identify and analyze emerging trends in financial crime legal requirements, engage with key stakeholders, and develop risk mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and deliver training on financial crime legal risks at global, regional, and local levels as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Expert knowledge of financial crime laws, including anti-money laundering, sanctions, anti-bribery and corruption, and fraud law relevant to Switzerland and other jurisdictions.
  • Significant experience advising senior-level management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with diverse teams across geographies and cultures.
  • Proven ability to tackle complex challenges involving multiple jurisdictions through lateral thinking.
  • Experience in managing complex regulatory matters and confidential interactions with regulators.
  • Strong judgment with an ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Qualified Lawyer with substantial post-educational experience.
