Your contributions will help shape strategic thinking and address crucial performance issues while incorporating the full array of Deloitte capabilities to enhance deal value.

In your role as part of a dedicated M&A specialists team, you will provide operational due diligence advice that integrates financial performance, operational capabilities, and strategic goals, focusing on revenue growth and cost reduction strategies.

Your Role and Responsibilities

  • Work within project teams to conduct due diligence, operational analyses, financial baseline assessments, and ensure the quality of deliverables.
  • Assist corporate and private equity clients in understanding the operational capabilities of acquisition targets and existing portfolio companies.
  • Support clients in evaluating potential merger synergies and the complexities associated with carve-outs, as well as the standalone performance improvement potential of buyouts and divestments.
  • Conduct structured client interviews to uncover operational complexities and value creation opportunities, often involving senior stakeholders.
  • Synthesize qualitative and quantitative information from diverse sources into clear value creation hypotheses and compelling narratives.
  • Focus deliverables on the most significant issues relevant to the transaction and investment thesis.
  • Provide actionable operational value creation advice, backed by interviews, data analysis, financial baseline evaluations, and external benchmarks.
  • Manage project scope, priorities, timelines, budgets, risks, and quality while collaborating closely with senior leadership.
  • Foster trusted relationships with corporate executives and M&A professionals.
  • Contribute to business development through proposal preparation, client materials, and relationship management.
  • Design and lead initiatives aimed at improving M&A value creation and pre-deal due diligence practices.

What We Are Looking For

  • At least five years of relevant professional experience in M&A, focusing on operational due diligence within a Big Four accounting firm, strategy consultancy, or specialized restructuring adviser.
  • Extensive experience in operational due diligence, including synergy identification and tracking.
  • Knowledge in standalone performance diagnostics and separation diagnostics.
  • Experience in commercial due diligence, business planning, and revenue growth is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated understanding of due diligence processes and documentation requirements.
  • Industry experience in Energy, Resources & Industrials; Consumer; Life Sciences & Healthcare; or Technology, Media & Telecommunications is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Full professional proficiency in English; fluency in German, ideally including Swiss German, is highly desirable.
