Role Overview

The Regional Industrial Hygienist will play a critical role in managing risks associated with acquisitions and expansions within our global footprint. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying, mitigating, and managing industrial hygiene risks in new ventures, thus maintaining our competitive edge and ensuring employee health and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Standards Implementation: Lead the effective implementation of industrial hygiene and occupational health regulations, ensuring compliance and reducing health risks.
  • Performance Monitoring: Oversee industrial hygiene and occupational health performance, supporting the achievement of targets with actionable insights.
  • Expert Guidance: Provide leadership and expertise, engaging senior stakeholders by aligning industrial hygiene with strategic goals.
  • Cultural Influence: Foster cross-regional collaboration, encouraging best practices to achieve an incident-free environment.
  • Competence Development: Identify gaps and lead training initiatives to enhance regional health risk management capabilities.
  • Networking: Lead the regional Industrial Hygiene network and participate in the Tier I Industrial Hygiene network, establishing global standards with a regional perspective.
  • Regulatory and External Engagement: Maintain relationships with regulatory bodies, ensuring compliance while benchmarking against peers for continuous improvement.
  • Incident Management: Lead health incident investigations, ensuring effective root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Local Management Systems: Guide facilities in developing local industrial hygiene management systems, including change management and control effectiveness.
  • Health Risk Assessments: Oversee health risk assessments, applying the hierarchy of controls and supporting local resources as needed.
  • Occupational Health Programs: Coordinate medical surveillance, respiratory health programs, and hearing conservation initiatives to ensure compliance.
  • Capital Projects: Contribute to and review SHE assessments for large capital projects, ensuring proper risk identification and mitigation.

Qualifications

  • BSc/MSc degree in industrial hygiene or equivalent in a technical, engineering, or SHE & Security field AND Certified Industrial Hygienist.
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience in industrial hygiene, preferably in chemical or pharmaceutical industries.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management capabilities to implement and ensure compliance with standards.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, adapting styles to varying site needs and driving effective engagement.
  • Proven problem-solving and strategic thinking ability, fostering regional and global collaboration.
  • Effective crisis management skills, with experience managing health impacts during high-pressure situations.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills, empowering local teams through targeted training.
  • Fluent in English (C1); proficiency in French is a plus.
