Role Description
Our Global Marketing & Commercial Excellence Department in Basel comprises an agile, multicultural, and customer-centric high-performance team. We are seeking a Manager for Global Events to enhance our Global Event Management Team. This role provides leadership, consultation, design, and execution for events and live communication that connects event management, branding, digital marketing, marketing communications, sales, and medical education across organizational and geographic boundaries, as well as various physical and virtual formats.
In this demanding role, you will master all phases of event management, from kick-off and concept development to budgeting, planning, design, execution, and final debriefing. Depending on your assignment, you will cover operational and/or strategic responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organize international key events, primarily within the dental care sector.
- Establish clear governance structures with defined roles and responsibilities to ensure smooth event execution by a balanced team; create efficient sub-teams as necessary.
- Develop detailed and persuasive event proposals that include timelines, venues, suppliers, legal obligations, staffing, and budgets.
- Research venues, suppliers, and contractors.
- Manage and coordinate suppliers and event logistics, including venue, catering, travel, booth building, and more.
- Liaise with sales and marketing teams to promote events internally and externally, ensuring a seamless lead-to-sales process.
- Oversee pre-event planning, including coordination of speakers and delegate materials.
- Coordinate with suppliers, address requests, and troubleshoot on-site to ensure smooth operations during events.
- Manage a project-based team, providing comprehensive briefings.
- Organize facilities, including car parking, traffic control, security, first aid, hospitality, and media arrangements.
- Ensure compliance with insurance, legal, health and safety standards, while adhering to the high compliance expectations of our industry.
- Oversee the efficient setup and dismantling of the event venue.
- Conduct post-event evaluations to inform future initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with the branding department and digital marketing teams.
Profile:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in business, marketing, event management, or a related field.
- A formal event management certification is a plus.
- Strong project management skills; a project management certificate is advantageous.
- At least 5 years of experience in an international marketing or event environment, preferably in the healthcare, pharma, or life sciences sectors.
- Solid understanding of commercial/business, digital marketing, and events.
- A collaborative team player with a strong sense of accountability.
- A passionate, straightforward, and performance-driven individual with an entrepreneurial spirit and strong execution capabilities; demonstrate a high level of integrity and commitment.
- Experience at an international agency is beneficial.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Able to achieve pragmatic results in a dynamic environment.
- A proactive and accountable individual with distinct interpersonal skills, capable of cultivating effective working relationships in a multicultural environment.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required; any additional languages are an advantage.
