The Position

We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced EAL teacher for upper primary, who can engage and inspire learners through their passion and professional practice. The ideal candidate will possess significant expertise in EAL and experience working with multilingual students in diverse bilingual/multilingual settings.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience teaching EAL, preferably in an international school setting. For non-Swiss/EU applicants, extensive international experience is required.
  • A learner-centered approach with the ability to differentiate for diverse learning needs.
  • A valid teaching license that includes EAL, and/or a literacy specialization, with a preference for candidates holding a Master's degree.
  • A strong understanding of and experience with translanguaging strategies.
  • C2 level proficiency in English, with excellent writing and oral communication skills.
  • Familiarity with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
  • Experience utilizing diagnostic language assessments and data to inform teaching practices.
  • Proficiency in Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and differentiated instruction to meet varied needs.
  • Ability to foster a classroom climate that promotes a sense of belonging.
