The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced EAL teacher for upper primary who can engage and inspire learners through their passion and professional practice. The ideal candidate will possess significant EAL expertise and experience working with multilingual learners in diverse bilingual/multilingual settings.

Essential Skills

  • At least 3 years of experience in teaching EAL, preferably at an international school. Extensive international experience is required for non-Swiss/EU applicants.
  • Learner-centered focus, with the ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learning needs.
  • A teaching license including EAL and/or a literacy specialism; a Master's level qualification is preferred.
  • Understanding of and experience using translanguaging strategies.
  • C2 level proficiency in English, with excellent writing and oral communication skills.
  • Familiarity with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
  • Experience using diagnostic language assessments and data to inform teaching practices.
  • Experience with Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and differentiated instruction to accommodate varied needs.
  • Ability to create a classroom climate that fosters a sense of belonging.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Collaborative, inclusive, and team-oriented disposition.
