Position Overview
We are seeking an active and engaging professional librarian with a robust background in collection development and maintenance, particularly in electronic databases, resources, and research. An expert in educational technology, the ideal candidate will possess a strong sense of pedagogy, contributing effectively to our higher education institution.
Key Responsibilities
The Librarian serves as a key academic and administrative leader, responsible for:
- Strategic planning and development of library and bookstore services, aligned with the educational and research goals of Webster Geneva.
- Direct management of library and bookstore operations.
- Coordinating information resources to enhance the learning and research environment.
- Fostering a dynamic community for students, faculty, and staff.
Pre-requisites
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required, with a Master's degree in Library Science or Library and Information Science (MLS or MLIS) preferred, recognized by the ALA or an equivalent.
- A Doctorate in any discipline is preferred but not mandatory.
- Experience in a comparable library role, with skills in project management and international competencies, ideally within an academic setting that includes training and teaching experience.
- Strong knowledge of library and research technologies, including integrated library systems and digital library platforms.
- Familiarity with textbooks and publishers, encompassing copyright and intellectual property issues within a library context.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of French is considered an asset.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- A high degree of ethical behavior, dependability, and reliability.
