Summary

We are offering a 6-month legal trainee position starting January 2026 to support the Novartis Procurement, Data/Digital & IT Legal department on a wide range of legal matters and projects. This role encompasses various areas such as contract law, commercial law, antitrust law, intellectual property, and disputes/litigation.

About the Role

This legal trainee position presents a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable, hands-on in-house legal experience within the dynamic, multinational setting of a leading pharmaceutical company.

  • Duration: 6 months
  • Start: January 1, 2026

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Supporting a diverse range of commercial matters related to procurement, manufacturing, and IT.
  • Contributing to various legal projects, including contract templates, legal training, global legal research, digitalization, and outsourcing.
  • Assisting in the drafting, negotiation, and review of various transactional and commercial agreements.
  • Drafting legal memoranda on a wide array of legal issues and disputes, including document summaries and key position summaries.
  • Providing legal advice to internal clients.
  • Receiving supervision and guidance from a roster of lawyers at different levels within the company, ensuring a rich learning environment.

What You’ll Bring to the Role:

Essential Qualifications:

  • Swiss Law degree (Master of Law and Bachelor of Law must be in Swiss Law) — master's degree should be completed prior to the starting date.
  • Business-level proficiency in English (written and spoken); an additional language is a plus.
  • A keen interest in legal matters within a large multinational organization.
  • A high level of motivation, curiosity, and the ability to work independently.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Previous legal experience in a law firm, court, or in-house legal department would be advantageous. We welcome applicants without prior experience who show strong interest and motivation to learn on the job.
  • Other professional experiences in a corporate environment are also beneficial.
