Summary

We are offering a 6-month legal trainee position starting January 2026 to support the Novartis Procurement, Data/Digital & IT Legal department on a wide range of legal matters and projects in areas such as contract law, commercial law, antitrust law, intellectual property, and disputes/litigation.

About the Role

This legal trainee position provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on in-house legal experience within the stimulating and multinational environment of a leading pharmaceutical company.

  • Duration: 6 months
  • Start: January 1, 2026

Your Responsibilities

  • Support a diverse range of commercial matters related to direct and indirect procurement, manufacturing, and IT.
  • Assist with various legal projects, including contract templates, legal training, global legal research, digitalization, and outsourcing.
  • Help draft, negotiate, and review a variety of transactional and commercial agreements.
  • Draft legal memoranda on a wide range of legal issues and disputes, as well as document and key position summaries.
  • Provide legal advice to internal clients.
  • Receive supervision and guidance from a team of experienced lawyers, ensuring a valuable learning experience.

What You'll Bring to the Role

Essential Qualifications:

  • Swiss Law degree (Master of Law and Bachelor of Law must be in Swiss Law), with the master's degree completed before the start date.
  • Business-level English skills (written and spoken); knowledge of an additional language is a plus.
  • Interest in legal topics within a large multinational corporation.
  • High motivation to perform, learn, and work independently.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Prior legal professional experience in a law firm, court, or in-house legal department (internships, etc.) is beneficial, but we are also open to applicants without prior experience who exhibit a strong interest and motivation to learn.
  • Other professional experience in the corporate environment is an advantage.
