Summary

We are offering a 6-month legal trainee position starting January 2026 to support the Novartis Procurement, Data/Digital & IT Legal department on a wide range of legal matters and projects, including contract law, commercial law, antitrust law, intellectual property, and disputes/litigation.

About the Role

This legal trainee position presents an excellent opportunity to gain first-class, hands-on in-house legal experience within the stimulating, multinational environment of a leading pharmaceutical company.

  • Duration: 6 months
  • Start: January 1, 2025

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Supporting a diverse range of commercial matters related to direct and indirect procurement, manufacturing, and IT.
  • Assisting with various legal projects, such as contract templates, legal trainings, global legal research projects, digitalization, and outsourcing.
  • Participating in the drafting, negotiation, and review of a variety of transactional agreements.
  • Preparing legal memoranda on a wide array of legal issues and disputes, along with drafting document summaries and key position summaries.
  • Providing legal advice to internal clients.
  • Receiving guidance and supervision from a diverse team of lawyers across different levels of the company, ensuring a great learning experience.

What You'll Bring to the Role:

Essential:

  • Swiss Law degree (Master of Law and Bachelor of Law must be in Swiss Law); master's degree must be completed before the start date.
  • Business-level English skills (written and spoken); additional language skills are a plus.
  • A keen interest in legal topics within a large multinational group of companies.
  • A high motivation to learn and excel, with the ability to work independently.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Previous legal professional experience in a law firm, court, or in-house legal department (such as internships) would be advantageous. However, we welcome applications from individuals without prior experience who demonstrate a strong interest in and motivation to learn.
  • Additional professional experience in a corporate environment is a plus.
