Job Summary

We are excited to announce a 6-month legal trainee position starting in January 2026 to support the Novartis Procurement, Data/Digital & IT Legal department. This role will involve engaging with a variety of legal matters and projects in areas such as contract law, commercial law, antitrust law, intellectual property, and disputes/litigation.

About the Role

This legal trainee position offers an excellent opportunity to acquire first-class, hands-on in-house legal experience within the dynamic, multinational environment of a leading pharmaceutical company.

  • Duration: 6 months
  • Start: January 1, 2026

Your Responsibilities

  • Support a diverse range of commercial matters related to direct and indirect procurement, manufacturing, and IT.
  • Assist with various legal projects, including contract templates, legal training, global research projects, digitalization, and outsourcing.
  • Engage in the drafting, negotiation, and review of transactional, commercial, and other agreements.
  • Draft legal memoranda on a wide array of legal issues and disputes, as well as document and key position summaries.
  • Provide legal advice to internal clients.
  • Receive supervision and guidance from a range of lawyers at different levels within the company, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience.

What You'll Bring to the Role

Essential Requirements:

  • Swiss Law degree (Master of Law and Bachelor of Law must be in Swiss Law), master's degree should be completed before the start date.
  • Business-level proficiency in English (written and spoken); additional languages are a plus.
  • A genuine interest in legal topics within a large multinational group of companies.
  • A high level of motivation to perform, discover, learn, and the ability to work independently.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Prior legal professional experience in a law firm, court, or legal in-house department (internships, etc.) is beneficial, although we welcome applicants without prior experience who possess a strong interest and motivation to learn.
  • Other professional experience within the corporate environment is an advantage.
