Summary

We are offering two 6-month legal traineeship positions in the Legal department for Corporate Functions, with one role starting on January 1, 2027, and the other on June 1, 2027!

About the Role

Are you interested in pursuing a career in law? We have the perfect opportunity for you! Our legal trainee position provides exceptional hands-on, in-house legal experience within the dynamic and multinational environment of a leading pharmaceutical company. More than 70,000 unique individuals work at Novartis, each with different needs and aspirations, all aligned to a single inspirational purpose: to reimagine medicine for millions of patients around the world.

We are seeking a motivated and diligent legal trainee who possesses the courage to navigate unknown and ambiguous legal territories and the curiosity to learn while being exposed to interesting and challenging legal questions. If you're passionate about making a difference and keen to kickstart your career with our in-house team, this could be the ideal role for you.

Your Responsibilities

  • You will serve as the backbone of our Legal team, providing essential advice in employment law (including questions related to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion), as well as addressing litigation and investigations. You will have the opportunity to tackle complex global and local issues, transforming challenges into solutions.
  • You will engage in practical tasks, managing individual legal cases as well as major projects (e.g., related to reorganizations, divestments, implementation of new policies, artificial intelligence, etc.), which includes drafting and reviewing agreements, internal regulations, and templates. This is your chance to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical context and make an immediate impact.
  • Your role will require in-depth legal research and the creation of legal memoranda, helping us break down complex ideas into digestible insights. Your knowledge will contribute significantly to our mutual success.

What You Bring to the Role

  • Swiss Bachelor of Law (BLaw) and Master of Law (MLaw); the master's degree must be completed before the start date.
  • Excellent proficiency in English and German, both verbally and in writing.
  • A high level of motivation with the ability to work independently on challenging tasks and projects.
  • Prior legal internship experience and knowledge of employment law is a plus.
