Summary

We are offering a 6-month legal trainee position starting January 2026 to support the Novartis Procurement, Data/Digital & IT Legal department. This role involves a diverse range of legal matters and projects in areas such as contract law, commercial law, antitrust law, intellectual property, and disputes/litigation.

About the Role

This position presents an excellent opportunity to gain first-class, hands-on in-house legal experience within the stimulating, multinational environment of a leading pharmaceutical company.

  • Duration: 6 months
  • Start: January 1, 2026

Your Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting a diverse range of commercial matters related to direct and indirect procurement, manufacturing, and IT
  • Contributing to various legal projects, such as contract templates, legal training, global legal research projects, digitalization, and outsourcing
  • Assisting in the drafting, negotiation, and review of various transactional, commercial agreements
  • Drafting legal memoranda on a variety of legal issues and disputes, including document and key position summaries
  • Providing legal advice to internal clients
  • Receiving supervision and guidance from a range of lawyers at different levels within the company, ensuring a valuable learning experience

What You’ll Bring to the Role

Essential Qualifications:

  • Swiss Law degree (Master of Law and Bachelor of Law must be on Swiss Law); Master's degree must be completed before the start date
  • Business-level English skills (written and spoken); additional languages are a plus
  • Interest in legal topics within a large multinational group of companies
  • High motivation to perform, discover, and learn new things, coupled with the ability to work independently

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Prior legal professional experience in a law firm, court, or legal in-house department (internships, etc.) is beneficial. We welcome applicants without prior experience who demonstrate a strong interest and motivation to learn on the job
  • Other professional experience in a corporate environment is a plus
