Job Description
We are seeking to reinforce our legal support for the core business Supply, particularly focusing on wholesale-related activities for the Inter IKEA Group, by recruiting a skilled and experienced Legal Counsel to join our dynamic team.
As Legal Counsel, you will serve as a trusted advisor to our wholesale business, delivering pragmatic, business-oriented legal support across our international purchasing, distribution, and sales activities. You will operate in a genuinely global environment, collaborating with colleagues in Supply and various sectors of the Inter IKEA Group, including legal, purchasing, logistics, finance, and tax.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements to support wholesale operations, including supply, purchasing, distribution, transport, logistics, and warehousing arrangements.
- Advise the business on cross-border sales of goods, international trade terms, title transfer, and delivery risks.
- Support purchasing and sourcing teams with transport and distribution service contracts globally.
- Provide legal guidance on intra-group agreements and the flow of goods between supply service entities and franchisees.
- Advise on regulatory and compliance matters pertinent to wholesale and supply activities, such as customs, trade compliance, sanctions, and product-related requirements.
- Manage and mitigate legal risk in commercial disputes, and support the resolution of claims related to supply, quality, and delivery.
- Instruct and coordinate external counsel across multiple jurisdictions, managing scope, quality, and cost.
- Contribute to the development of legal templates, playbooks, and processes that enable the business to operate quickly and safely.
Qualifications
To successfully fill this position, you should embody IKEA’s values, share our Vision and Business Idea, and possess the following qualifications:
- A law degree with several years of post-qualification experience, either in-house or from a reputable law firm, with a strong focus on commercial, supply chain, or wholesale-related work.
- Significant experience with contracting and organizational structures within IKEA.
- Solid knowledge of international sales of goods, maritime and road transport, commercial contracting, and cross-border trade.
- Experience with distribution (supply) agreements in franchise setups.
- Background in logistics and food.
- Experience advising a global business and comfort operating across multiple legal systems and cultures.
- The ability to translate complex legal issues into clear, practical advice for a commercial audience.
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills, sound judgment, and a genuine sense of ownership.
- A collaborative, down-to-earth working style that aligns with our values-driven culture.
- Proven ability to build trustworthy relationships in multicultural environments with a high level of integrity.
- A driven team player who can work independently as well.
- Leadership experience.
- Pragmatic, solution-oriented, hands-on, and cost-conscious.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
