Job Purpose

Aiglon College is renowned for providing a challenging and transformative holistic education in a supportive and safe environment. Accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS), we cater to 480 students aged 7-18 from 70 nations. Our unique learning philosophy is embedded from our youngest students, ensuring a nurturing experience from the outset. The junior school, which focuses on Years 2-8, operates as an essential and distinct part of our overarching school community.

We are seeking a teaching assistant for the junior school, primarily working with students in Years 7 and 8. Experience within an international school context is a distinct advantage. The position involves supporting approximately 20-30 hours per week during term time only.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Support for Students

  • Assist students individually or in groups, particularly those with EAL considerations.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with individual pupils and groups.
  • Contribute to Individual Education Plans as appropriate.
  • Promote pupils’ social and emotional development.
  • Support bilingual/multilingual pupils and those with specific needs.
  • Assist gifted and talented pupils in enhancing their literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Help students access the curriculum and address their personal care needs where appropriate.

Support for Teacher(s)

  • Observe and report on pupil performance.
  • Assist in planning and evaluating learning activities.
  • Help prepare and maintain the learning environment.
  • Support behavior management and contribute to maintaining students’ records.
  • Ensure pupils’ safety and security.
  • Supervise the whole class during short emergencies or planned absences.
  • Undertake routine marking and provide administrative support.

Support for the School

  • Foster teamwork and develop working relationships with other professionals.
  • Liaise with parents as needed.
  • Engage in continual professional development and self-assessment.

Support for the Curriculum

  • Utilize information and communication technology effectively in the classroom.
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people.
  • Adhere to health and safety guidelines.
  • Attend staff meetings and parent evenings as required.
  • Undertake any other duties necessary for the smooth operation of Aiglon.

Other Responsibilities

  • Understand and implement all school policies and procedures, particularly those focused on safeguarding children.
  • Assist the Deputy Head of the Junior School with any other reasonable tasks to support team operations.
  • Uphold the ethos of the School at all times in alignment with our Guiding Principles.
