Job Purpose

Aiglon College, an international boarding school nestled in the Swiss Alps, is renowned for its challenging and transformational holistic education. Catering to students aged 7-18 from 70 nations, our CIS-accredited school prepares students for Cambridge IGCSEs and the IB Diploma Programme, with our distinct learning philosophy introduced at the earliest stages. The junior school focuses specifically on students in Years 2-8.

The successful candidate will primarily support students in Years 7 and 8. Experience in an international school context is an advantage. This role involves approximately 20-30 hours per week and is term-time only.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Support teaching staff in the development and education of pupils, including specialized skills as needed.
  • Provide assistance to individuals or groups, particularly those with EAL considerations.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with individual pupils and groups.
  • Contribute to Individual Education Plans as appropriate.
  • Support pupils during learning activities.
  • Promote pupils’ social and emotional development.
  • Contribute to the health and well-being of pupils.
  • Offer support for bilingual/multilingual pupils.
  • Assist children with specific needs, including sensory/physical impairments and learning difficulties.
  • Support gifted and talented pupils.
  • Enhance literacy and numeracy skills among pupils.
  • Facilitate pupil access to the curriculum.
  • Address personal care needs of children as appropriate.

Support for Teachers

  • Observe and report on pupil performance.
  • Contribute to planning and evaluating learning activities.
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining the learning environment.
  • Help manage pupils’ behavior.
  • Maintain pupils’ records; ensure their safety and security.
  • Supervise the class briefly in emergencies or short absences.
  • Undertake routine marking in accordance with school policy.
  • Provide administrative support, including preparing worksheets and invigilating exams.

Support for the School

  • Contribute to team development and effectiveness.
  • Maintain working relationships with other professionals.
  • Liaise with parents as appropriate.
  • Engage in professional development and review personal practice.

Support for the Curriculum

  • Assist in the use of information and communication technology in the classroom.
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people.
  • Comply with health and safety regulations.
  • Participate in professional development and adhere to appraisal standards.
  • Uphold Aiglon's ethos and promote our vision and aims.
  • Attend staff meetings and parents/open evenings as required.
  • Undertake additional duties to ensure the smooth running of Aiglon.

Other Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Understand and implement all school policies and procedures, particularly related to safeguarding.
  • Assist the Deputy Head of the Junior School with any other reasonable tasks for team cohesion.
  • Uphold the School’s Guiding Principles and ethos at all times.
