Job Purpose

Aiglon College, recognized for its holistic education approach, seeks a Learning Support Assistant to work closely with a senior school student who has a neurodiverse learning profile. This role involves providing support that enhances the student’s access to the curriculum, fosters independence, and promotes emotional well-being within the senior school environment.

The successful candidate will collaborate with teachers, the Learning Support team, pastoral staff, and parents to ensure full participation in both academic and community life. Experience with neurodiverse learners (such as those with Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, or other specific learning needs) will be advantageous. This position is expected to require support for approximately 25-35 hours per week and will be term-time only.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized support in a classroom setting to enhance student engagement and learning.
  • Establish a positive and respectful connection with the student to promote confidence and independence.
  • Assist with organization, planning, and executive functioning skills, including time management.
  • Help the student comprehend instructions, break down tasks, and maintain focus during lessons.
  • Support the student’s social and emotional development by helping them manage stress and interactions.
  • Promote effective study habits and learning strategies that cater to the student’s unique learning profile.
  • Facilitate transitions between lessons and activities as needed.
  • Encourage independence while providing appropriate guidance and support.
  • Assist the student in accessing support structures within the school as required.

Support for Teachers and the Learning Support Team

  • Collaborate with teachers to implement strategies that support the student’s needs within lessons.
  • Monitor and report on the student’s engagement and progress.
  • Provide insights on the effectiveness of interventions to relevant staff.
  • Assist teachers in adapting materials for better accessibility.
  • Contribute to discussions regarding the student’s support plan.
  • Help create a structured and inclusive learning environment.

Professional Development and School Culture

  • Maintain professional relationships with teachers, pastoral staff, and learning support specialists.
  • Liaise with parents and boarding staff under the Learning Support team’s guidance.
  • Ensure confidentiality while facilitating effective communication among stakeholders.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development regarding neurodiversity and inclusive education.
  • Attend staff meetings, parent forums, and other school-related events.

Other Responsibilities

Fulfill all school policies regarding safeguarding children and potential other tasks as requested by the Head of Learning Support to ensure smooth team operations.

Adhere to the School’s guiding principles and embody Aiglon's ethos at all times.
