In response to our ongoing expansion, we are looking for an outstanding Director of Sport to lead and enhance our whole school sports program starting in September 2026. This strategic and hands-on leadership role is essential in building structures, driving standards, and delivering a competitive, well-organized sports program that embodies the school's aspirations.

The Role

The Director of Sport will:

  • Lead and develop sports across all key stages
  • Design and manage a structured, competitive fixtures program
  • Oversee training schedules, staffing, and facility usage
  • Line manage sports staff and external coaches
  • Develop participation pathways alongside high-performance opportunities
  • Collaborate closely with the Head of Competitive Sport to ensure alignment between participation sport and elite performance pathways
  • Work alongside pastoral and academic teams to support student athletes
  • Manage risk, safeguarding, and compliance within all sporting activities
  • Build strong relationships with families and partner organizations

Sport is central to life at VIS, our alpine setting provides outstanding opportunities, including a competitive ski race program that plays a vital role in our identity. The ability to teach IB Sports, Exercise, and Health Science would be advantageous.

This role requires exceptional organizational skills, clarity in systems, and the capacity to manage a growing and ambitious program across the entire school.

The Candidate

We are seeking a colleague who:

  • Has proven experience in leading sports within a structured and competitive school environment
  • Understands how to build and manage extensive fixture-based sports programs
  • Is confident in managing staff, logistics, and performance expectations
  • Can integrate participation sports with high-performance pathways
  • Is academically inclined, with the ability to teach IB Sports, Exercise, and Health Science being advantageous
  • Communicates clearly and professionally with parents and colleagues
  • Sets high standards for both staff and students
  • Thrives in a growing school environment where systems are still being developed and refined
  • Holds international school experience as a plus
