Your Mission

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Specifications and Design: Leading the development of fit-for-purpose mechanical specifications, design philosophies, and a basis of design for global execution. Ensure owner requirements are clearly defined, documented, and communicated to contractors while validating design assumptions against operability, safety, and applicable regulatory expectations.
  • Contractor Management: Reviewing and approving contractor submissions, enforcing owner requirements, and ensuring adherence to schedule, quality, safety, and operability.
  • Innovation and Cost Optimization: Developing innovative engineering solutions to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or safety.
  • Interface Management: Assuring strong integration with process, civil, electrical, and O&M disciplines to achieve seamless and optimized designs.
  • Regulatory and Stakeholder Awareness: Supporting alignment of mechanical scope assumptions with local permitting and application needs.
  • Documentation and Knowledge Management: Maintaining thorough records of technical decisions, design bases, vendor information, and lessons learned for future operational use.
  • Cold-Weather and Constructability: Incorporating Alberta (or similar) climate conditions into mechanical design and execution planning to ensure constructs operate safely and efficiently through winter conditions.

Your Story

Requirements

  • Educational Background: A degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Professional Experience: At least 10 years in process plants, preferably in cold weather climates, as a mechanical static equipment engineer.
  • Project Experience: Hands-on involvement in at least one full-cycle project in the chemical, petrochemical, or renewables industry.
  • Work Style: Precise, adaptable, and reliable, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Communication: Confident in presenting to executive audiences and translating technical content into actionable information.
  • Languages & Travel: Fluent in English and willing to travel up to 60% of your time.

This position is based in Opfikon, Zurich, with a requirement to work onsite at least three days a week.
