You will be responsible for concept development and prototyping new manufacturing technologies on a lab scale, while also leading technology engineering and scaling up towards commercial production.

Your Mission

  • Lead the development of disruptive processes to enable unprecedented product performance, while promoting more efficient, sustainable, and agile manufacturing.
  • Translate and develop process and product ideas into scalable manufacturing technologies alongside your team members.
  • Utilize your interdisciplinary mechanical and process engineering expertise to create innovative manufacturing solutions—drawing inspiration from various industries—to enhance the ease, speed, agility, and sustainability of sports goods manufacturing.
  • Embrace an entrepreneurial mindset and hands-on mentality, working independently and flexibly to tackle challenging projects from concept through practical implementation and scale-up.
  • Provide creative solutions to complex problems and manage relationships with our key development, engineering, and production partners.
  • Push the boundaries of materials, technology, and processes through continuous innovation, while maintaining a focus on the bigger picture.

Your Story

  • Proven experience in executing end-to-end development projects.
  • Demonstrated track record in completing projects involving robotics, automating processes, or processing images for robot control.
  • Advanced knowledge in mechanical engineering and robotics (operation and maintenance), automation, polymers, or related fields. Experience with digital inkjet printing (GIS software) is a plus.
  • Expertise in colors and graphics application, with the ability to assess quality and accuracy of print results.
  • Strong background in robotics (programming and employment), machine learning, and vision, along with an affinity for (graphic) design.
  • Solid experience working with 3D and CAD tools; experience with computational design tools is a plus.
  • Innovative mindset with a strong drive to push the boundaries of product and process engineering.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a (robotics) engineer in the tech industry or a similar field.
  • Experience in collaborating with external development partners to develop and scale up new manufacturing technologies.
  • Skills in employing industrial robots that can quickly adapt to our current workflow (required at least for this year).
  • Able to work independently under deadlines on multiple projects, requiring both innovative ideas and engineering problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to adapt your style between engineers, designers, product experts, and cross-functional non-product creation partners.

The Emerging Technology team is responsible for On’s future technologies and manufacturing methods. Within this team, you will join the Process & Technology group, which focuses on concept creation for novel manufacturing processes and products. You'll have the opportunity to be part of an agile and interdisciplinary department of engineers, scientists, and designers, fostering a fast-paced environment with direct decision-making and the freedom to design projects and processes.
