As a Lead Data Scientist at Swiss Marketplace Group's Real Estate Business Unit, you will contribute to a data hub catering to the leading real estate platforms in Switzerland, including homegate.ch and immoscout24.ch. You will join a cross-functional, agile data team with an open mindset, eager to learn new skills and share knowledge.

The Lead Data Scientist will develop and implement data science solutions that foster business growth and innovation. This senior-level position emphasizes technical leadership with a hands-on approach and offers a clear path toward a technical career track.

About The Position

  • You will design and implement data science and machine learning use cases to deliver value to our users and address business challenges.
  • You will serve as the tech lead for data science projects and teams, ensuring alignment with business needs and value delivery.
  • You will provide technical guidance, advocate for best practices, and foster team agreements related to those practices.
  • You will perform exploratory data analysis on large and complex datasets to identify patterns, trends, and relationships, generating high-quality data and relevant hypotheses.
  • You will lead the implementation of Generative AI use cases, from conceptualization to monitoring.
  • You will develop and apply ML/AI techniques and best practices to create reliable, scalable, and ethical data-driven solutions.
  • You will collaborate with stakeholders to understand specific project objectives and design comprehensive evaluation methods for system performance.
  • You will write, review, and debug code for complex projects, spearheading solution development and alignment.
  • You will own and enhance our in-house models across various domains such as inventory classification, predictions, recommendations, and fraud detection.
  • You will report directly to the Head of Data Engineering & Science.

Qualifications

What will you bring to the ride?

  • 5+ years of experience in building data science projects.
  • Deep understanding of data science pipelines, including data ingestion, feature engineering, model training, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Experience with data lineage, transformation, modeling, storage, access, and data quality assessment techniques essential for effective model development.
  • Experience handling a high volume of heterogeneous data.
  • Strong programming skills in Python (preferably including SQL) and data modeling capabilities.
  • Proven experience in deploying machine learning models and ongoing retraining and experiment tracking.
  • A successful track record of productionizing machine learning models.
  • Ability to quickly investigate, familiarize, and master new datasets.
  • Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work well with various teams in ambiguous environments.
  • Meticulous attention to detail in complex scenarios.
  • A strong dedication to driving change with a positive, proactive attitude.
  • A keen interest in continuous learning and problem-solving beyond immediate competencies.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
  • Eager to stay current with the latest ML technologies in a dynamic business environment.
