As a Lead Data Scientist at Swiss Marketplace Group's Real Estate Business Unit, you will contribute to the data hub for the leading real estate platforms in Switzerland, such as homegate.ch and immoscout24.ch. You will be part of a cross-functional, agile data team characterized by an open mindset and a passion for continuous learning.
The Lead Data Scientist will be responsible for developing and implementing data science solutions that drive business growth and innovation. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in data science, machine learning, and generative AI use cases. This is a senior-level position focused on technical leadership and designed for those seeking a technical career track.
About The Position
- Design and implement data science and machine learning use cases to add value to our users and address business challenges.
- Act as the technical leader for data science projects and teams to align with business needs and deliver value.
- Provide technical guidance, suggest best practices, and drive team consensus on methodologies.
- Perform exploratory data analysis on large and complex datasets to identify patterns, trends, and relationships, generating high-quality data and relevant hypotheses.
- Lead implementations of generative AI use cases from conceptualization and experimentation to implementation and monitoring.
- Develop and apply ML/AI techniques and best practices for reliable, scalable, and ethical data-driven solutions.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand specific project objectives and aid in designing a formal evaluation method for system performance.
- Write, review, and debug code for complex projects while leading solution development and alignment.
- Own and further develop our in-house models across various areas, including inventory classification, predictions, recommendations, and fraud detection.
- Report directly to the Head of Data Engineering & Science.
Qualifications
What will you bring to the ride?
- 5+ years of experience in building data science projects.
- A deep understanding of data science pipelines, including data ingestion, feature engineering, model training, deployment, and monitoring.
- Experience with data lineage, transformation, modeling, storage, access, and quality assessment techniques, essential for effective model development and productionalization.
- Experience working with high volumes of heterogeneous data.
- Strong programming skills in Python (and preferably also SQL) along with data modeling expertise.
- Proven track record of bringing models into a production environment with successful deployments, retraining, and experiment tracking.
- Ability to quickly investigate, familiarize, and master new datasets.
- Collaborative mindset to work well with different teams and manage ambiguity.
- Attention to detail in complex environments.
- Strong dedication to driving change with a positive can-do attitude.
- A proactive approach to learning and finding solutions beyond your direct area of expertise.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
- Enthusiasm for staying current with and leveraging the latest ML technologies in a dynamic business environment.
