As a Lead Data Scientist in Swiss Marketplace Group's Real Estate Business Unit, you will contribute to the data hub for leading real estate platforms in Switzerland, including homegate.ch and immoscout24.ch, amongst others. You will be part of a cross-functional, agile data team characterized by an open mindset and a passion for learning and sharing knowledge.
The Lead Data Scientist will be responsible for developing and implementing advanced data science solutions that drive business growth and innovation. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in building data science, machine learning, and generative AI use cases. This senior-level position emphasizes technical leadership with a 100% hands-on approach, paving the way for a robust technical career path.
About The Position
- Design and implement data science and machine learning use cases to add value for our users and address business challenges.
- Serve as the tech lead for data science projects and teams to align with business needs and ensure value delivery.
- Provide technical guidance, recommend best practices, and foster collaboration on team agreements related to these practices.
- Conduct exploratory data analysis on large, complex datasets to identify patterns, trends, and relationships, ultimately generating high-quality data and relevant hypotheses.
- Lead the implementation of Generative AI use cases, from conceptualization and experimentation to execution and monitoring.
- Develop and apply ML/AI techniques and best practices for reliable, scalable, and ethical data-driven solutions.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand project objectives and goals, assisting in designing formal ways to evaluate system performance.
- Write, review, and debug code for complex projects, leading solution development and alignment.
- Own and further develop in-house models across various areas including inventory classification, predictions, recommendations, and fraud detection.
- Report directly to the Head of Data Engineering & Science.
Qualifications
What will you bring to the ride?
- 5+ years of experience in building data science projects.
- Deep understanding of data science pipelines, including data ingestion, feature engineering, model training, deployment, and monitoring.
- Experience with data lineage, transformation, modeling, storage, access, and quality assessment techniques essential for effective model development.
- Experience working with a high volume of heterogeneous data.
- Strong programming skills in Python (and preferably SQL) along with data modeling expertise.
- Proven track record of bringing models to production environments (deployment, retraining, experiment tracking).
- Able to quickly investigate and master new datasets.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and manage ambiguity.
- Attention to detail in complex environments.
- Strong commitment to driving change with a positive, can-do attitude.
- A proactive approach to learning and finding solutions beyond the direct area of expertise.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
- Eager to stay updated and leverage the latest ML technologies in a dynamic business landscape.
