As a Lead Data Scientist at Swiss Marketplace Group's Real Estate Business Unit, you will contribute to the data hub for the leading real estate platforms in Switzerland, including homegate.ch and immoscout24.ch, among others. You will be part of a cross-functional, agile data team characterized by an open mindset and a shared passion for learning new skills.

The Lead Data Scientist will be responsible for developing and implementing data science solutions that drive business growth and innovation. This senior-level position is focused on technical leadership (100% hands-on) and paves the way for a progressive technical career track.

About The Position

  • Design and implement data science and machine learning use cases to deliver value to users and address business challenges.
  • Act as the technical lead for data science projects and align with business needs to ensure value delivery.
  • Provide technical guidance, recommend best practices, and foster alignment on team agreements related to data science.
  • Perform exploratory data analysis on large and complex datasets to identify patterns, trends, and relationships to generate high-quality data and relevant hypotheses.
  • Lead the implementation of Generative AI use cases, from conceptualization and experimentation to deployment and monitoring.
  • Develop and apply ML/AI techniques and best practices to create reliable, scalable, and ethical data-driven solutions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand the specific objectives and goals of projects and aid in evaluating system performance against these goals.
  • Write, review, and debug code for complex projects, leading the development and alignment of solutions.
  • Own and further develop our in-house models across various areas, including inventory classification, predictions, recommendations, and fraud detection.
  • Report directly to the Head of Data Engineering & Science.

Qualifications

What will you bring to the ride?

  • 5+ years of experience in building data science projects.
  • Deep understanding of data science pipelines, including data ingestion, feature engineering, model training, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Expertise in data lineage, transformation, modeling, storage, access, and quality assessment techniques essential for effective model development.
  • Experience working with a high volume of heterogeneous data.
  • Strong programming skills in Python (preferably also in SQL) and robust data modeling capabilities.
  • Proven experience in transitioning models to a production environment (deployment, retraining, experiment tracking).
  • Successful track record of operationalizing machine learning models.
  • Ability to quickly investigate and master new datasets.
  • Proficiency in collaborating with diverse teams and managing ambiguity.
  • Detail-oriented approach in complex environments.
  • Strong commitment to driving change with a positive can-do attitude.
  • A proactive mindset towards learning and seeking solutions beyond immediate expertise.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
  • Enthusiasm for keeping up with the latest ML technologies in a challenging business landscape.
