Key Responsibilities
Azure Data Architecture & Engineering (50%)
- Design and implement scalable data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and Azure Synapse Analytics.
- Architect Medallion data lake solutions with ADLS Gen2 and Delta Lake (Bronze/Silver/Gold layers).
- Automate ingestion from hybrid sources using ADF, CDC, and event-based models.
- Optimize SQL/NoSQL systems for performance, scalability, and maintainability.
- Develop data transformation logic using PySpark, SQL, and Mapping Data Flows.
- Build CI/CD pipelines for data using Azure DevOps, ARM templates, Terraform, and YAML.
Data Modeling & Analytics Enablement (25%)
- Lead relational/dimensional modeling using star/snowflake schemas.
- Design and manage SSAS Tabular Models, complex DAX measures, and semantic layers.
- Integrate models into Power BI and Tableau for self-service BI.
- Champion data integrity through dictionaries and consistent definitions.
Cloud Governance, Security & Monitoring (15%)
- Implement secure Azure environments aligned with GDPR and data privacy standards.
- Monitor performance using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Power BI dashboards.
- Drive platform cost-efficiency and reliability through smart usage policies.
- Support data cataloging and compliance initiatives across departments.
Leadership & Collaboration (10%)
- Serve as the technical lead for Azure data platform projects.
- Mentor team members on cloud-native engineering and automation best practices.
- Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Collaborate with business teams in finance, risk, compliance, and actuarial domains.
Required Qualifications
- 15+ years of data engineering experience with strong hands-on delivery.
- Expert in the Azure ecosystem: ADF, ADLS Gen2, Synapse, Databricks, Azure SQL DB, AAS, Logic Apps, Azure Functions.
- Strong SQL (including performance tuning), Python, and Terraform skills.
- Deep experience in Power BI, DAX, SSAS Tabular, and CI/CD automation with Azure DevOps.
- Proven background in data warehousing (Kimball, Inmon) and dimensional modeling.
- Comfortable with high-volume data operations (multi-TB scale) in production.
Preferred Certifications
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
- Databricks Certified Data Engineer
- Power BI or Tableau Certification
- Data Governance (e.g., CDMP) or Security (e.g., CISSP) certifications
- Python and Terraform internal certifications
