Job Opportunity: Laboratory Technician

The Tumor and Stem Cell Dynamics Lab, led by Prof. Helmuth Gehart, is seeking a highly motivated laboratory technician to support ongoing research efforts. Our lab is located at the Institute of Molecular Health Sciences within the Department of Biology (D-BIOL) at the ETH Hönggerberg campus, part of the Life Science Campus of ETH Zurich.

Our lab combines a wide variety of disciplines and techniques to address significant questions in cancer and stem cell research. We utilize organoid technology, microfluidics, patient samples, microscopy, in vivo models, genome engineering, single-cell analysis, and computational and molecular biology to unravel the complexities of cancer cells and adult stem cells.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organoid/tumoroid culture, maintenance, and characterization, including microscopy, RNA preparation, DNA preparation, histology, drug screening, and flow cytometry.
  • General support for ongoing research projects.
  • Collaboration with an international team of researchers on innovative research projects.

Qualifications

  • A highly motivated research technician interested in making a meaningful contribution to cancer and stem cell research.
  • Willingness to take responsibility for complex tasks.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Familiarity with molecular biology techniques.
  • A collaborative spirit and the ability to support leading projects in the lab.
  • Eagerness to learn new techniques and experiment with fresh ideas.
  • A team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Previous experience with complex cell culture models (e.g., 3D culture) is a plus.
