Job Opportunity: Laboratory Technician

The Tumor and Stem Cell Dynamics Lab, led by Prof. Helmuth Gehart at the Institute of Molecular Health Sciences within the Department of Biology (D-BIOL) at ETH Zurich, is seeking a highly motivated laboratory technician to support our ongoing research efforts. Our lab is situated on the Life Science Campus at the ETH Hönggerberg campus, a hub of cutting-edge research in cancer and stem cell dynamics.

About the Lab

The Tumor and Stem Cell Dynamics Lab integrates a diverse array of disciplines and techniques to tackle pressing questions in cancer and stem cell research. Our interdisciplinary team employs organoid technology, microfluidics, patient samples, microscopy, in vivo models, genome engineering, single-cell analysis, and computational and molecular biology to uncover the intricate workings of cancer cells and adult stem cells.

Position Overview

We are currently looking for a Laboratory Technician to join our research projects. The selected candidate will have the following responsibilities:

  • Organoid/tumoroid culture, maintenance, and characterization (microscopy, RNA preparation, DNA preparation, histology, drug screening, flow cytometry).
  • General support of ongoing research initiatives.

You will collaborate with an international team of researchers and engage in innovative projects in a dynamic and supportive scientific environment.

Qualifications

  • A highly motivated research technician eager to contribute significantly to cancer and stem cell research.
  • Ability to take responsibility for complex tasks.
  • Excellent organization and documentation skills.
  • Familiarity with molecular biology techniques.
  • A willingness to collaborate with fellow lab members and support project leadership.
  • A proactive attitude towards learning new techniques and testing innovative ideas.
  • A team player with outstanding communication skills.
  • Previous experience with complex cell culture models (e.g., 3D culture) is an advantage.
