Laboratory Technician Position at ETH Zurich
The RNA Biology and Disease laboratory at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biophysics (Department of Biology), ETH Zurich, invites candidates to apply for a laboratory technician position to support daily research activities and laboratory operations.
The lab focuses on mammalian gene regulation and RNA processing pathways. Our projects involve a range of structural, biochemical, and cellular assays, including cryo-electron and light microscopy, gene editing, next-generation sequencing, proteomics, and the reconstitution of large protein-RNA complexes from recombinant proteins. Through these innovative methods, the laboratory aims to uncover the molecular basis of disease mechanisms to identify novel therapeutic targets.
Role Overview
We are seeking an open-minded and flexible co-worker. Your contributions to lab organization will ensure the smooth running of our operations, while your dedicated collaboration will advance our diverse research projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Actively participate in general lab duties and responsibilities.
- Assist other lab members closely with their projects, adapting flexibly to varied demands.
- Carry out a range of experiments from cloning constructs to protein expression and purification from bacterial and insect cells.
- Cultivate mammalian tissue culture cell lines, transform them for experiments, and generate stable cell lines.
- Analyze expression patterns through techniques such as immunofluorescence, western blotting, or RT-qPCR.
- Diligently document all lab work, maintaining and updating internal databases.
- Independently organize and coordinate repairs and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
