Laboratory Technician

Roche Schweiz is a leader in bridging pharmacy and diagnostics, with vital research and development functions located here. We are currently seeking a motivated Laboratory Technician for our long-standing client, Roche Diagnostics International AG, based in Rotkreuz.

Background:

Our Instrumental Analytics department plays a crucial role within Reagent Research and Design. We specialize in the development, validation, and implementation of various analytical methods using cutting-edge technologies such as Liquid Chromatography, Mass Spectrometry, digital PCR, and FTIR microscopy. In addition to routine activities, our team is engaged in innovative research projects to explore and assess new methodologies. We are looking for a hands-on Laboratory Technician (Research Assistant) eager to thrive in a multi-technology environment. This position offers the opportunity to work with a diverse range of analytical platforms and expand technical expertise across various instruments. The ideal candidate will have completed training as a Laboratory Technician or hold a Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology, Analytical Chemistry, or a related field, along with 2-3 years of laboratory experience. A curious and open-minded individual is desired, someone who enjoys thinking outside the box. You should be receptive to new ideas and excel in a team setting, with confident communication skills in English. Experience with statistical data analysis and proficiency in the German language is an advantage.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Plan analyses with support from supervisory staff
  • Prepare standards and samples
  • Perform experiments on various instruments
  • Conduct data analysis with guidance from supervisory staff
  • Document experimental results
  • Escalate issues when challenges arise
  • Recommend next steps based on generated data
  • Drive efforts to enhance efficiency within work packages
  • Organize and manage time effectively within assigned work packages
  • Order and maintain inventory of materials

Must Haves:

  • Completed education as a Lab Technician (Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology) or a Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum 2-3 years of laboratory experience in an academic research or industry environment (Pharma, MedTech)
  • Initial experience with Liquid Chromatography (preferably PCR)
  • Basic experience in statistical data analysis and evaluation
  • Fluent in English
  • Strong interest in practical laboratory work
  • Able to think multidirectionally
  • Team player
