Job Opportunity: Laboratory Technician
The RNA Biology and Disease laboratory at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biophysics, ETH Zurich, is seeking a dedicated laboratory technician to support our daily research activities and laboratory operations.
About the Lab
Our lab investigates mammalian gene regulation and RNA processing pathways. Our projects integrate various methodologies, including structural, biochemical, and cellular assays. Techniques such as cryo-electron and light microscopy, gene editing, next-generation sequencing, proteomics, and the reconstitution of large protein-RNA complexes from recombinant proteins are central to our research. Through these approaches, we aim to unveil the molecular mechanisms underlying diseases, ultimately identifying novel targets for treatment.
Your Role
As an integral member of our team, your responsibilities will encompass a variety of essential lab duties. You will:
- Assist lab members with diverse research projects, adapting to varying demands.
- Conduct experiments, including cloning constructs and purifying proteins from bacterial and insect cells.
- Cultivate mammalian tissue culture cell lines, transform them for various experiments, and generate stable cell lines.
- Analyze expression patterns using methods such as immunofluorescence, western blotting, and RT-qPCR.
- Maintain thorough documentation of lab work and update internal databases.
- Independently organize and coordinate repairs and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
