Project Overview
We are seeking a qualified Lab Technician – BGE Reagents Development (m/f/d) for our client, Roche Diagnostics International AG, located in Rotkreuz. The BGE Sensors & Reagents team is at the forefront of In Vitro Diagnostics (IVD) innovation, focusing on the development, characterization, and optimization of electrochemical sensors and system reagents for medical devices, specifically for blood gas, electrolyte, and metabolite measurements in whole blood.
The Reagents team oversees the entire lifecycle of calibrators, controls, and internal solutions necessary for BGE instruments, functioning as a multidisciplinary group of experts in analytical method development, chemistry, material science, and reagent production.
Role Summary
This is a 100% laboratory-based role in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. The Lab Technician will be responsible for the hands-on preparation and testing of chemical solutions, ensuring that our R&D production lots conform to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lot Production & Execution: Manage R&D BGE Lab Lot production, including planning, preparation, and execution of reagent batches.
- Testing & Analysis: Conduct thorough testing of formulations and raw materials to verify consistency and performance.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of experiments and lab lots, effectively communicating progress to project and line managers.
- Laboratory Management: Support daily lab operations, including inventory management for consumables and maintenance of laboratory infrastructure.
- Process Improvement: Contribute to the establishment of new raw materials and the refinement of methods for manufacturing, testing, and packaging.
- Presentation: Prepare and present technical data and test designs to the broader R&D team.
Required Qualifications
- Completed apprenticeship as a Laboratory Technician specializing in Chemistry, or a Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Life Sciences (Chemistry or related field); Master’s and Ph.D. degrees are not accepted.
- Strong foundational knowledge of inorganic and/or organic chemistry with hands-on experience in solution preparation; immediate graduates are welcome to apply.
- Proven experience in chemical analysis (analytical balance readings, pipetting) and in handling complex chemical solutions (e.g., calibrator solutions); familiarity with Roche instruments and their measurements is advantageous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for data analysis and reporting.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) is essential, given our international environment.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to network across R&D, Operations, and Quality Control teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 3 years of professional experience as a Lab Technician in a regulated environment.
- Proficiency in German is considered an asset.
