Job Opportunity: Laboratory Technician

The Tumor and Stem Cell Dynamics Lab, led by Prof. Helmuth Gehart, is seeking a highly motivated laboratory technician to support ongoing research efforts. We are situated at the Institute of Molecular Health Sciences within the Department of Biology (D-BIOL) at the ETH Hönggerberg campus in the Life Science Campus of ETH Zurich.

This lab integrates a multitude of disciplines and techniques to address pivotal questions in cancer and stem cell research. Our interdisciplinary team employs organoid technology, microfluidics, patient samples, microscopy, in vivo models, genome engineering, single-cell analysis, alongside computational and molecular biology to unravel the complexities of cancer cells and adult stem cells.

Position Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Organoid/tumoroid culture, maintenance, and characterization
  • Microscopy, RNA preparation, DNA preparation, and histology
  • Drug screening and flow cytometry
  • Providing general support for ongoing research projects

Qualifications

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who demonstrates the following qualifications:

  • A strong interest in significantly contributing to cancer and stem cell research
  • Willingness to take responsibility for complex tasks
  • Excellent organization and documentation skills
  • Familiarity with molecular biology techniques
  • A collaborative spirit with lab members
  • A readiness to learn new techniques and experiment with new ideas
  • A team player with exceptional communication skills
  • Previous experience with complex cell culture models (e.g., 3D culture) is advantageous
