Your Role:
As a key member of our Applications team, you will report directly to the Application Services unit while closely supporting the Application Development unit. We are seeking a motivated and skilled lab technician to enhance our single-cell biopsy collection capabilities and manage our RNA library preparation and QC pipeline. You will employ the most sensitive and advanced protocols available for ultra-low input RNA-Seq, directly contributing to the development of innovative technologies that are redefining genomics.
In this dynamic role, you will balance hands-on wet lab experiments—including single-cell biopsy collection, cell culture, and RNA library preparation—with essential laboratory management. As the lab responsible person, you will help ensure the smooth operation of our laboratory and cell culture areas, maintain biosafety standards, manage supplies, and optimize standard operating procedures (SOPs) to support our units.
Your Key Duties:
- Collect single-cell biopsy samples for application development and customer projects.
- Execute NGS RNA library preparation, quantification (e.g., qPCR, automated electrophoresis), and rigorous quality control.
- Operate and maintain specialized instruments (FluidFM Omnium, Fragment Analyzer, etc.).
- Manage laboratory and cell culture housekeeping: maintain inventory, order supplies, prepare aliquots and stock solutions, and ensure biosafety compliance.
- Maintain accurate, detailed records of experimental procedures and results using an Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN).
- Collaborate with the development team to continuously improve protocols, define SOPs, and support the planning of experimental activities.
Who You Are:
- Meticulous: You treat every sample as irreplaceable because, in our work, it often is.
- Reliable: Your colleagues trust that when you hand off a library, the data in the notebook matches what's in the tube.
- Hands-on: You prefer the bench to the desk. You take ownership of the lab space and ensure it runs smoothly.
- Collaborative: You work within a small, tight-knit team where everyone's contribution is visible and valued.
- Self-organized: You manage your time well, flag problems early, and proactively take initiative.
Your Profile:
- Completed apprenticeship as a laboratory technician with a specialization in biology, or alternately, a bachelor’s degree in molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, or a related field.
- Deep knowledge of molecular biology techniques (RNA extraction and enrichment, PCR, qPCR, capillary electrophoresis, etc.).
- Proficient in mammalian cell culture techniques (Biosafety level 2).
- Experience in laboratory housekeeping procedures, including maintaining inventory and equipment, ordering supplies, and preparing stock solutions.
- Experience using an Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) or Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Fully proficient in English (fluent in communication, reading, and writing). Basic knowledge of German is a strong plus.
- Desirable: Work experience with single-cell RNA-seq, preferably with low-input RNA-seq protocols such as SMART-seq, FLASH-seq, or other commercial kits.
- Desirable: Work experience in a GLP-compliant lab or familiarity with ISO 17025.
