Job Opportunity: Laboratory Assistant
Responsible To
As per the Employment Contract.
Responsibilities
- Comply with the Company's methods, rules, procedures, policies, and codes of practice.
- Wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment provided.
- Carry out various duties as directed by the Laboratory Manager or nominee.
- Maintain Company and Customer confidentiality.
- Implement quality control checks and uphold good housekeeping practices.
Limit of Responsibility
- Present all purchase orders to the Laboratory Manager or nominee for authorization.
- Not dispatch Test Results unless authorized by a signature from an Approved Signatory.
- Operate only laboratory equipment for which approval has been granted.
Summary
After training, you will assist with sample preparation and testing to enable Laboratory Technicians and Analysts to review and report results to clients.
General Description
As a member of our team, you will carry out various duties as directed, which may include but are not limited to:
- Assisting with the preparation of samples.
- Assisting with laboratory testing.
- Assisting with the dispatch of test reports.
- Performing general laboratory housekeeping duties, including but not limited to:
- Washing laboratory glassware.
- Disposing of used oil samples.
- Sweeping the floor.
- Tidying and cleaning down benches.
- Some tasks may involve physical lifting and require wearing a respirator (e.g., fetching and carrying chemicals to and from the Chemical Store).

Qualifications / Experience
- An interest in Chemistry.
- A careful and methodical approach to work.
- A flexible attitude towards different tasks.
- Ability to work to deadlines and outside standard working hours when necessary.
- Neat handwriting (written and spoken English skills are advantageous).
- Basic numeracy skills.
- Some keyboard experience.
