The research conducted at the lab is powered not only by Huawei's internal research staff but also through collaborations with our academic research partners from universities across Europe. Our lab fosters an open research environment, encouraging academics to work alongside Huawei staff on fundamental long-term projects, similar to the best universities and research institutes in the world.

To strengthen our Data Centre Network team, we are seeking a Lab Director who can provide insights and visionary guidance in this field. The ideal candidate will be responsible for researching and exploring the development trajectory of Data Centre Network (DCN) services and architecture, leading innovations in key DCN algorithms and protocols, and driving the team to achieve significant technological breakthroughs.

Responsibilities

• Plan and research the top-level architecture and key technologies for next-generation data centre networks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement advanced data centre networks.
• Focus areas include, but are not limited to:
  • Network topology
  • Traffic control technology
  • Software-defined networks
  • Optical and electrical hybrid networks
  • In-network computing
• Optimize the performance and efficiency of parallel computing systems, particularly large-scale AI clusters, emphasizing the integration of network, computing, and storage systems.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, Automation, Mathematics, Physics, or related fields.
• Over 20 years of research experience in high-performance networking or parallel computing.
• Preferred candidates will have industry experience, particularly with blue-chip companies.
• Proficiency in network architecture and high-performance computing systems.
• Experience in performance modeling or efficiency optimization of parallel computing systems.
• A background in large-scale distributed AI/deep learning is essential, along with familiarity with relevant infrastructure and key technologies.
• Self-motivated, highly ambitious, and possess excellent team spirit and cross-cultural communication skills.

More Specifically

• In-depth research experience in modern network technology or high-performance interconnection, with proficiency in data centre network architecture and familiarity with the RDMA protocol system.
• Strong understanding of technology evolution and industry advancements within data centre networks, along with relevant research achievements and successful practices.
• Expertise in performance or efficiency optimization of parallel computing systems, covering parallel computing architecture, algorithms, and performance analysis.
• A business background in distributed deep learning with a thorough understanding of its requirements and familiarity with the infrastructure for large-scale training/inference.
