Role Overview

As a vital member of our Galley team on our River vessels, the Commis de Cuisine plays a crucial role in preparing meals that delight our guests while ensuring compliance with Viking River Cruises standards and HACCP regulations. The Commis de Cuisine reports directly to the Executive Chef and Sous-Chef.

What You Will Do On Board

  • Assist in preparing and cooking daily meals for crew and guests in accordance with the Executive Chef Manual and menu cycle.
  • Handle groceries, products, and galley equipment with care; conduct inventory and stock takes.
  • Ensure proper waste disposal and adherence to HACCP rules and company standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the galley and production areas; participate in onboard training programs.
  • Assist the Executive Chef with food supply orders and budget management, ensuring food costs remain within budget.

About You

  • Graduated apprenticeship as a cook is required.
  • A minimum of 1 year of professional experience in a 4 or 5-star kitchen/galley.
  • International experience or ship experience is preferred.
  • Good command of the English language; knowledge of additional languages is advantageous.
  • Able to work independently, service-oriented, guest-focused, with the capability to train and motivate subordinates.
