The Position
This job posting is for the role of Junior Group Leader in Computational Biology. We are seeking an innovative scientific mind to establish an independent research program within our new Computational Biology Core at the Institute of Human Biology (IHB). This is a unique opportunity to launch your career as a principal investigator, shape your research vision, and contribute meaningfully to human biology in a dynamic and interdisciplinary environment.
The Opportunity
As a Junior Group Leader, you will have the freedom to conduct innovative research while benefiting from a collaborative and supportive environment. In this role, you will:
- Establish and lead an independent research program in computational biology, focusing on computational morphometry of human model systems, with interest in other areas such as the integration of multi-modal, large-scale data sets and causal inference.
- Collaborate with world-class academic institutions like ETH Zürich and EPF Lausanne, along with global biopharma leaders, including Roche's pRED (Pharma Research and Early Development) and Genentech.
- Leverage state-of-the-art platforms, technologies, and Roche’s core facilities to advance your research.
- Mentor and guide graduate students through our joint PhD programs.
- Contribute to a culture that translates scientific discoveries into transformative medicines in areas such as Immunology, Neurology, and Oncology.

Who You Are
We seek a creative and passionate leader with a proven track record of groundbreaking research. You will be successful in this role if you:
- Have recently completed a successful postdoctoral appointment and are eager to advance your career as a principal investigator.
- Possess a strong track record of innovation in computer vision, AI, and/or causal inference, driven by a desire to apply these to human model systems.
- Exhibit extraordinary leadership potential and a commitment to advancing scientific inquiry within collaborative teams.
- Are motivated to translate discoveries into transformative medicines through collaboration with our scientists and partners.
- Thrive in an interdisciplinary environment, working alongside biologists, engineers, and other computational scientists.
