Position Purpose
The Junior Trader (Cotton) will provide essential support to the trading team, marking the first step in a dynamic career within the cotton trading sector. This role involves learning the intricate details of cotton specifications and trading, preparing you for future involvement in purchasing or selling markets. Responsibilities
The primary duties will include:
- Learning physical cotton specifications and values.
- Understanding and maintaining accurate costings.
- Assisting and learning in executing trades in strict adherence to compliance and risk management guidelines.
- Monitoring market movements and analyzing trends to identify trading opportunities.
- Supporting senior traders in developing and implementing trading strategies and exploring new channels.
- Maintaining accurate records of trades, including both physical and derivatives.
- Collaborating with the trading team and back office to enhance trading practices and improve customer service.
- Participating in weekly trading calls and contributing insights based on analysis.
- Negotiating and building relationships with local suppliers.
- Following up on contracted deliveries and monitoring take-up results.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A university degree in Economics or a related field with a focus on trading.
- Fluency in English and Spanish; proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
- Solid knowledge of trading platforms, particularly Fintrade.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong customer service skills and practical experience with data management tools and office software.
- The ability to thrive and contribute within a fast-growing business environment.
- Willingness to travel as required.
