Position Overview
Support the desk in building supply and demand models across various agricultural commodities.
Contribute to the development of new analytical models and processes to enhance efficiency based on industry best practices.
Produce ad hoc analysis based on short-term market developments as requested by the desk to inform commodities trade ideas.
Take ownership of the desk's data flows, which includes onboarding new datasets and addressing any issues encountered.
Run and maintain processes related to fundamental data operations.
Collaborate with different teams to capture cross-desk synergies (equity mapping) and improve systematic reporting (callouts) of information flow.
Provide ad hoc desk support regarding organization or technical assistance.
Typical Day
- Check that all models and visualizations are functioning as expected, and investigate any data-related issues.
- Organize team Confluence pages to ensure all information is up to date.
- Produce any ad hoc analysis that traders or analysts may require.
- Engage in various long-term projects focused on building market-leading analytical models.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced degrees (MSc preferred) in Mathematics, Statistics, or Quantitative Finance.
- Experience in quantitative research, ideally through prior internship experience or in a related position, particularly in commodities trading.
- Experience in highly quantitative trading asset classes (especially power) and systematic trading is a plus.
- Coding skills in Python are required; proficiency in Excel/VBA is a plus.
- Demonstrated passion for investing and awareness of trends in commodities markets.
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to quickly synthesize thoughts and organize information.
- Willingness to tackle any project or task as required.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues across multiple teams and regions.
